Anthracite Filtration Media

Grades of anthracite are produced on a modern sieving and drying plant providing high quality filter media.  The Flusco works is the one of oldest established manufacturers of Anthracite Filter Media in the United Kingdom.

Anthracite has a wide range of uses in filtration systems.  It has a high filtration efficiency which gives excellent results in potable water treatment plants throughout the world and is being used extensively in the following applications :-

Packaging

Anthracite is packed in 25 kg polythene bags, palletised, shrink wrapped or supplied inflexible intermediate bulk containers (IBC).  It can also be supplied loose in bulk.

Grade Selection

Grade  1 or 1N  is generally selected for pressure filter applications.

Grade  2 or 2N  is used in both gravity and pressure filters.

Grade  3 has a growing application in gravity filters for the tertiary treatment sewage.

Grades  4 - 7 are generally used as support layers.

N Denotes non-standard sizing and these grades are only manufactured to order.  Other non -standard sizes are also available on the same basis.
